The Foundation Studies in Management program offered by Universiti Utara Malaysia began in 2014 when it welcomed its first batch of students for the 2014/2015 academic session with the approval of the Ministry of Education Malaysia (KPM). The first intake of the 2014/2015 Session was managed by the Centre for Foundation Studies in Management in collaboration with the Department of Academic Affairs, Universiti Utara Malaysia.

The admission of students on 18 June 2014 saw the first batch of 100 students consisting 20 male and 80 female students. The students who are admitted in the programme will be under the tutelage of UUM lecturers who are highly experienced and skilled in the development of dynamic and innovative human capital.

UUM Foundation Studies in Management Programme emphasizes on the ethical and humanitarian aspects which have been incorporated into the curriculum to help develop individuals who are balanced, community-conscious, communicatively competent and decisive when it comes to decision making.
