UUM FOUNDATION STUDENTS CLINCHED TWO GOLD AND ONE SILVER AT 2021 PIITRAM
UUM ONLINE: Three teams consisting students from the Centre for Foundation Studies in Management successfully clinched two gold medals and one silver medal at the ‘Pre-university Malaysia Innovation Competition 2021 (PIITRAM) recently.
The first group, Asasian Young Inventors comprised three members namely Mr. Shreethaar A/L Arunagirinathan, Ms, Umi Athirah Mohd Fauzi and Mr. Wan Harith Wan Zainal won the gold medal when their entry called Artificial Intelligence Web Cam-an E-Learning and Exam Sentry system caught the interest of the judges at the competition.
Moreover, the second group which was led by Mr Mohammad Noor Aiman Hassan Nudin and assisted by fellow group mates namely Mr Muhammad Syamirul Aiman Bin Zairulazman and Mr Ahmad Asyraaf Danial Norazlan managed to secure another gold medal with their unique entry called ‘DAIMAN’- a Virtual Reality Website: VR Beyond Future Learning.
Finally, the third group consisting Mr. Abdul Harraz Bin Abdullah Deen, Mr. Yasmine Farhan Azran and Mr. Irfan Umar Mohd Nor Fazly came up with a website called Student r Us. The website aims to assist students in setting up appointment with a counsellor; assist students in determining their suitable way of studying; assist students in discovering their career path and etc. Incidentally, all these innovation products are in the process of intellectual property (IP) registration with assistance from the Innovation and Commercialization Centre (ICC).
Ms. Umi Athirah who won the gold medal expressed her elation as all the hard work and juggling between her studies and the hectic competition practise sessions finally paid off. She also thanked the staff and management team at the Centre for Foundation Studies in Management for their unwavering support. She also expressed her gratitude and appreciation toward Dr Mohamed Ali bin Haniffa, the Deputy Director of Student Affairs at the centre for his guidance and support. In fact, according to her, the support rendered by both the administrative staff and management team became the driving force in ensuring the teams’ success.
Incidentally, year 2021 marks the debut for the students from the UUM Centre for Foundation Studies in Management into the Pre-university Malaysia Innovation Competition 2021 (PIITRAM). The winners have also pledged to guide and train the next innovative team taking part in the 2022 PIITRAM.
